SLOVENE PHRASE BOOK
This book is designed to teach you the basic words and phrases that you will need for simple everyday communication; it does not attempt to teach you the grammatical structure of Slovene. The words and phrases in this booklet belong to the standard Slovene language. This book contains a number of conversational phrases that should make your visit to Slovenia easier and more rewarding. Slovenes are very grateful when they hear you speak their language. SLOVENES The Slovenes are one of the smallest European nations with an independent state since 1991. They arrived in the country where they live now in the 6th century, and have since then been exposed to constant pressures from all sides. But they succeeded in preserving their language and created a rich and original cultural heritage, an interesting synthesis of the old Slav legacy and many elements from European East, West, North and South. SLOVENIA Slovenia is a green land with fragrant meadows and fields, especially with forests covering more than half its area. When you drive through Slovenia the sight changes all the time. From the capital Ljubljana every corner of the country can be reached by car in less than an afternoon, and so can the international airports in the neighbouring countries. There are many mountains, waterfalls, churches on hills, castles, lakes, picturesque caves, there is the blue Adriatic Sea and much more. Like among young people it is hard to choose which of them is the prettyest. ...And finally, I hope you fall in love with Slovenia too!
